The Indiana University School of Social Work invites applications for the position of Field Coordinator on the Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis campus. This is a full-time, twelve-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment. Anticipated start date may be as early as January, 2013.
The Field Coordinator has primary responsibility for recruiting, developing, and assessing field placement agencies in locations where students are engaged in the program. Field Coordinators act as advisors throughout the student placement process and as ongoing consultants to faculty liaisons, field instructors, and agency directors. In addition to coordination of all field education experiences, the Field Coordinator has instructional responsibilities of teaching 1-2 courses per calendar year and/or the equivalency of 1 course in faculty field liaison responsibility. The Field Coordinator reports to the Program Director on the Indianapolis campus in collaboration with the IUSSW Director of Field Education to assure compliance with all processes and procedures of the IUSSW and comparability of all curricular offerings. The primary appointment will be to the MSW program, however, the position may also provide consultation and support to the BSW Program as needed.
Essential qualifications: Candidates are required to have an MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited program plus a minimum of two year post-MSW full-time practice experience. Additional requirements include practice experience that reflects a generalist perspective (including clinical and macro competencies); experience supervising MSW students as a field instructor; a sound familiarity with program evaluation, excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills; and strong organizational and managerial skills.
