When it comes to connecting with clients, there?s Facebook. Twitter. Texting. Chit Chat. And, if you live in Riverside, a holiday season version of the Polar Express.
Four years ago, the Sister Team began an annual ?Cookies with Santa? event at 3943 Chapman Place in the Wood Streets section of Riverside centered around a train Ed Bogner designed and built to celebrate the holidays.
The event has become so popular that Tara and April Glatzel of Re/MAX Partners in Corona bake for several days and recruit teams of elves to make sure they have enough goodies to hand out.
This year, Santa greeted more than 50 children, neighbors, two pugs and a few cats. Tara Glatzel said a Baker?s Dozen worth of clients from Christmases past stopped by; and so did a lot of other folks the Glatzel had never met before.
Tara, who has sold real estate since her 20s, said she understands the value of long-term relationships with clients, and the gains that arise when you make new friends.
?The ideas is to do things for the neighborhood and community, so hopefully when someone thinks about buying and selling a house, you?ll pop into their minds,? she said.
That day, candy canes were handed out along with cups of cocoa. Santa got an ear-full.
He posed with dogs who were decked out for the day.
And, as Santa sometimes does, made one young-one cry.
?
When the holiday gear gets put away, the Sister Team passes out 4th of July flags and candy on Halloween through a process known in the industry as farming.
?You can?t stop cultivating relationships,? Tara said, but added that while the event is held in part for their business, there?s far more to it than that.
?We really love our neighborhood, the community and our neighbors,? she said.
?The day Eddie built the train, this took on a life of its own,? April said.
The Cookies with Santa event is, in a way, a continuation of a tradition the Wood Streets neighborhood has grown to love over the years, the persona that Sandy and Joe Logan of Larchwood, created when they dressed up as Mr. and Mrs. Claus to celebrate the season.
?It was over the top,? April said. ?They?d decorate their house, and even set up a bubble machine so it looked like it was snowing.?
Four years ago when the couple was sidelined for the holidays, the Glatzel gals stepped up. The train left the tracks. The Yuletide tradition was born.
The Glatzels shared dozens of photos from this year?s celebration with me, all posted on their Facebook page. Their event looked like so much fun, I thought share a few photos with you.
The holiday?s aren?t over.
If you?d like to share your thoughts and photos of experiences with your clients this season, I invite you to post them in the comment section of my Real Estate Blog.
